A Phoenix Bird Reborn From Its Ashes In Guyana
Fort Lauderdale, Florida (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- The 11th of October of 2013 would have been a normal day in Georgetown if Beepats’ warehouse had not caught fire. The fire dramatically ripped through the warehouse, completely destroying the building and needing several firefighting teams to tackle the blaze. Since then, the company had been renting warehouse space around the city in an effort to continue doing business as usual.
In December 2013, they finally acquired 2.5 acres of land to build new warehouse facilities and a new administrative building. Having purchased the land at Sophia, the next decision was how and what to build. Mr. Dennis Beepat, owner of Beepats; knew his company needed to facilitate the logistics aspect of the business; thus it was decided that a steel building would be the best option. Mr. Beepat hired a skilled engineer who contacted eight prospective sellers and requested blueprints.
“While in discussions with Allied, both our engineer and ourselves felt that they were the most trustworthy and seller friendly. They took great pains to explain all aspects of what a structure such as this should have. It was therefore with great pleasure when the final quotes came in, that we found Allied to be the people to offer the best prices. Altogether we could not have wanted a better service.” Dennis Beepat, CEO of Beepats.
Six months after the agreement, the building had been engineered and fabricated. Beepats’ team was invited to inspect the raw materials at the manufacturing facilities in Houston. Allied handled the shipment of the buildings that were delivered in 16 open top sealed containers to Georgetown in September, 2014.
Laure Dubois, International Project Manager at Allied Steel Buildings, was in charge of the whole project. She helped Beepats optimize the freight as much as possible, not only on price but also in terms of adjusting the cargo to the containers.
Laure said: "It was an honor for Allied Steel Buildings to work with Mr. Beepat and his team. At all times, I found the team to be reliable, hard-working, and extremely helpful. It was a pleasure working with them, and we would be glad to do it again in the future."
The main warehouse has 75,400 Sq. ft. of floor space, making it the largest warehouse facility in Guyana, and it is ready for future growth and expansion. Not only that, but the building is also equipped with all the modern facilities for storage, handling, and inventory control systems.
Erection of the main pre-engineered warehouse building started in April, dedicating 2 out of the 2.5 acres of space. The other half an acre is being utilized for an administrative building, vehicle workshop, and parking area. The main building is completed, and the support facilities will be fully functional before the end of the year.
Occupation of the new warehouse facility, started by mid-August and the other support facilities were completed by the end of August 2015.
The official opening of Beepats’ new warehouse facility in Guyana was celebrated on Saturday the 26th of September at 6 pm. Mr. Moses Nagamootoo, Prime Minister of Guyana, attended the event jointly with several members of the Government and trade attachés from the United States, Suriname, Great Britain and China.
