Having a sale in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month can bring a little more visibility about the need to help fight the disease affecting so many women.

OneWorld Memorials President Ira Woods announced that his cremation urn and memorial keepsakes company will be hosting a sale and donation drive in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. From October 1-31, the ecommerce site will donate $5 to breast cancer research for every order placed on their website. Additionally there will be a 10% discount on all cremation jewelry for ashes to help lift awareness of the month long event.

Specifically, OneWorld Memorials will make donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit committed to developing prevention techniques and finding a cure for breast cancer. The foundation is the only breast cancer nonprofit with an "A+" rating from CharityWatch and a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation devotes 88% of all contributions to cancer research and 3% for public awareness campaigns.

"It's hard to find that high a percentage of contributions going to research and awareness," said Woods. "They have a fabulous reputation; I’ve been very impressed with this group and their commitment."

OneWorld Memorials rarely offers site-wide sales. However, President Woods, like so much of the company's customer base, has suffered personal loss from cancer. The company has also set up a donation page for customers interested in making additional donations for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"It's out of the ordinary for us to hold a sale since our customers already find highly reduced pricing compared to funeral homes and memorial retail outlets. But having a sale in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month can bring a little more visibility about the need to help fight the disease affecting so many women. It can affect us, our loved ones, and our friends. For myself, and definitely for the team here, that is a very gratifying reason to hold a sale," Woods said.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in women living in the United States.
