FlexJobs Launches Campaign to Help Millennials Navigate the Changing Workplace
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) September 29, 2015 -- FlexJobs has launched 100 Days on Jobs for Millennials, a content campaign designed to help the millennial generation gain insight into their flexible career options and navigate the changing work landscape. For one hundred consecutive days, expert articles, videos, webinars, Q&As and success stories will be posted to FlexJobs’ Millennials & Gen Y Jobs blog. The content will provide useful, inspirational and actionable tips to help millennials, especially those in the older half of the generation (aged 25-35), develop a better understanding of opportunities within the flexible job market and how to capitalize on them.
“Older millennials in particular have experienced a very difficult job market and, unlike previous generations, their workplace is less structured and their career roadmap is less defined,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs, the leading online service for hand-screened telecommuting and flexible jobs. “100 Days on Jobs for Millennials provides resources to help millennial job seekers better understand and strategically navigate their journey as growing professionals.”
This generation faces a constantly-changing workplace, and with that comes changing priorities. Over 500 millennial-aged respondents to a recent FlexJobs survey reported work-life balance (84%), family (67%), time savings (60%), cost savings (49%) and commute stress (48%) were the primary reasons for seeking flexible work options.
Additional survey findings include:
Millennials say that behind working to pay for basic necessities (83%) and to pay for luxury items (55%), the top reasons they work are because they enjoy working (53%), are passionate about success in their career (50%) and they want to have a professional impact in the world (46%).
Telecommuting 100% of the time is the most sought after type of flexible work for millennials (85%), followed by alternative or flexible schedule (54%), telecommuting some of the time (50%), part-time schedule (47%) and freelance/contract (39%).
LinkedIn (65%) is by far the top social media channel millennials use in their job searches, with Facebook (28%) a distant second and Twitter (13%) coming in third.
