PM360, a leading health marketing industry trade magazine, recognized the best innovators in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries with their annual Trailblazer Awards Gala on Friday, September 25, 2015—each of whom braved the incredible bustle of the papal visit and the UN General Assembly in NYC the day of the gala. The honors, bestowed at a gala banquet at Gotham Hall in Manhattan, are given to outstanding companies, marketers, brand managers and cutting edge initiatives.
Gotham Hall was filled with the industry’s best and brightest in their sharpest tuxes and most beautiful gowns. Attendees laughed the night away thanks to host Emmy-award winning actress, comedian and writer Judy Gold. And, in addition to winning a few awards, attendees also danced and partied into the wee hours of the morning.

As always, the awards honor the pharma and medical device marketers and companies whose work over the past year best exemplified the forward thinking our industry needs. This was also the first year PM360 honored both Gold and Silver winners in the Company of the Year categories. The Pharmaceutical or Biotech Company of the Year Gold Winner went to Pfizer while Astellas Pharma US took home Silver. Entrepreneur Leerom Segal, who co-founded Klick at age 17, was named the Trailblazer Marketer of the Year for his consistent ability to revolutionize how the industry operates. This year’s PM360 Lifetime Achievement Award went to Timothy G. Rothwell, Former Chairman, President and CEO of Sanofi US and current Chairman Emeritus of the Pheo-Para Alliance, a not-for-profit organization. Presenting his award was long-time friend and former Lifetime Achievement winner Fred Hassan, Partner and Managing Director, Warburg Pincus and a member of the Amgen Board of Directors.
“Tim Rothwell, an industry icon, is beloved by all who have worked with him, in part because of the depth of caring he bestows on each and every one of his colleagues,” explains Stashower. “He is continuing to push the industry forward with his work at the Pheo-Para Alliance and their search for treatments for pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma.”
Entries are judged and winners selected by the PM360 Editorial Advisory Board, a cross section of experts from across the industry. Winning entries were judged based on different criteria for each major category including Company of Year (innovation, talent development and social responsibility), Brand Champions (innovation, leadership, communication, analytical and organizational skills) and Initiatives (content, format, success in reaching targeted audience and overall quality).
Each distinguished themselves in their ability to stand out in the complex healthcare environment. Additionally, the Marketer of the Year award singles out the individual who best exemplifies the most insightful, forward-thinking and transformative marketing ideas and actions in the industry.
