Great Place to Work and Fortune tap N2 for designation based on employee assessments

From the N2 mission statement, program design, support team and beyond, this company balances the delicate job of growing people, connecting communities and creating an atmosphere of success for all.

N2 Publishing consists of more than 60 percent women, and it’s seemingly clear they appreciate the quality of workplace. The N.C.-based business – which publishes community magazines for neighborhoods around the country – has been named one of the 100 Best Workplaces for Women by Great Place to Work and Fortune.

“At N2, we’re all about creating a culture where every team member has the opportunity for growth, both personally and professionally,” said Katherine Daniel, Director of Human Resources for N2 Publishing. “With nearly two-thirds of our team being female, we’re particularly excited for this honor.”

Great Place to Work and Fortune surveyed more than 135,600 female employees from a range of more than 630 companies. Specifically, the questions focused on topics like the fairness of company promotions, access to information and leadership, as well as the level of support for employees’ personal lives.

Scores also took into account how well-represented women were within the workforce, management and executive positions; how positively women experienced their workplace’s fairness; and how favorable women’s experiences were compared to the 138,000 men also surveyed.

N2 Publishing tallied high marks across the board. For its female team members, it comes as no surprise the company made the cut.

“From the N2 mission statement, program design, support team and beyond, this company balances the delicate job of growing people, connecting communities and creating an atmosphere of success for all,” said Angela Wall, an Area Director with N2 Publishing. “They allow me to run my own race, and have empowered me with strategies and insights that have helped me reach my personal goals.”

As for the creators of Best Workplaces for Women, N2 Publishing and the other selected companies represent a movement emerging in the modern marketplace.

“The companies on this list are leaders who recognize the strategic importance of creating workplaces that attract and support the best talent in their industries,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work U.S. “While specialized programs to support women’s equal access to opportunity are often strategic, in many ways it is just as important – and challenging for leaders – to establish a pattern of inclusiveness throughout everyday workplace interactions since these rely on everyone to overcome their blind spots. Ranking on this list is a great indicator that these companies’ efforts to create great workplaces are resonating throughout their teams.”
