Rollerblade® Presents 34th Annual Athens-to-Atlanta Road Skate in Georgia on October 11, 2015
West Lebanon, NH (PRWEB) October 06, 2015 -- Rollerblade®, the worldwide leader in inline skating, is proud to serve as title sponsor for the 34th Annual Athens-to-Atlanta Road Skate on Sunday, October 11, 2015. The event’s classic 87-mile course begins in Athens, Georgia, and ends in Atlanta. A famous American tradition, Athens-to-Atlanta (A2A) combines the beauty of northern Georgia, the friendliness of the skating community, and the rigors of distance skating. It is more than a road skate; it’s the defining outdoor skating event in America.
“This incredible, challenging road skate is beyond a competition; it’s one of the most fun and celebrated events in our international inline skating community,” says Stephen Charrier, president of Rollerblade, title sponsor of Athens-to-Atlanta. “We’re proud to sponsor the event and look forward to rooting on all participants, especially our team of Rollerblade athletes, as we come together to celebrate the sport in the beautiful Georgia sunshine.”
Rollerblade Athletes Jorge Botero, former inline speed skating world champion, and Kacie Cleveland, a USA XC World Record Holder and veteran inline skate marathoner, will represent Rollerblade in Athens-to-Atlanta, backed by the power and support of Rollerblade skates.
Athens-to-Atlanta is the oldest and most famous point-to-point, marathon road skating event in America, attracting inline and quad skaters from all over the world. Participants in the 87-mile event will skate through scenic Georgian countryside, quiet suburbs, and bustling city streets. The A2A course is highlighted by the transition from rural Georgia to quiet suburbs. The famous downhill at Silver Hill, where skaters can hit speeds above 45 mph, precedes checkpoint 5 at approximately 70 miles. Urban skating dominates the rest of the way as skaters pass through Atlanta’s in-town neighborhoods on their way to the finish line at Old Fourth Ward’s Skate Park.
Skaters may also opt for more compact race routes along the way, including a 38-mile skate from Athens to Dacula or the 49-mile event route from Dacula to Atlanta. Both four and five wheeled skates are welcome and anyone from 8 to 80 years old may enter. Participants can register for A2A through a printable mail-in form or online by Friday, September 25. http://www.active.com/athens-ga/skating/skating-races/a2a-34th-annual-athens-to-atlanta-road-skate-2015-16134396.
