The 2015 Deseret News Home Show Kicks Off on October 9 with HGTV Celebrity John Gidding

The Deseret News Home Show opens its doors on Friday, October 9, 2015 and continues through Sunday, October 11 at the South Towne Expo Center. This season, John Gidding, architect, designer and star of HGTV’s Curb Appeal: The Block, returns for another weekend of expert advice on interior and exterior design. Also, Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak, mother-daughter duo of HGTV’s Two Chicks and a Hammer, join the celebrity guest lineup.

Gidding is an architect, designer, business owner, and the host of HGTV’s Curb Appeal: The Block. He has worked on numerous design and construction projects around the world, including residential properties, commercial architecture, and urban landscaping. Additionally, Gidding assists homeowners in his New York City-based company, John Gidding Design Inc. At the Home Show, Gidding will help guests find inspiration for their home design projects and offer advice on where to start the process. He will be on the Design Stage on Friday, October 9 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 10 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Also appearing at the Home Show is the mother-daughter duo behind HGTV’s Two Chicks and a Hammer. Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak are on a mission to revive rundown properties around their hometown of Indianapolis. Although both started in careers outside of home renovation, their combined talents create a powerful team. Laine and Starsiak will be on the Design Stage on Friday, October 9 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, October 10 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Kitchen Stage will feature Chef Nettie Frank, owner of Beyond Glazed Doughnuts and contestant on Food Network’s Cake Wars, among other local celebrity chefs. Additionally, there are several new features at this season’s show, including the Vintage Home Décor Market, Fabulous Designer Porches contest, and more than 40 booths dedicated to the best in Log + Timber home building.
