Coverys Announces More Than $140,000 in Grants to Health Facilities in the Northwest
Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 01, 2015 -- Coverys, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance and related services, announced that the Coverys Community Healthcare Foundation (the Foundation) awarded more than $140,000 in grants to 17 separate hospitals and health facilities in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The grants will be used for staff training programs, resources, and other initiatives to enhance patient safety, improve health outcomes and reduce risk.

The Foundation’s’ grants will fund the following projects:
• Bingham Memorial Hospital, Blackfoot, ID –For resources and training to enhance and support compliance with emergency preparedness at the state and federal level.
• Columbia River Community Health Services, Boardman, OR – For development of an on-line tool for single source access and monitoring of operational policies.
• Coulee Medical Center, Grand Coulee, WA –To support the implementation of a concussion awareness and treatment program within the community.
• Evergreen Health Monroe, Monroe, WA –For staff training, education, and resources associated with the development of a Psychiatric Patient Safety Plan to be implemented in the emergency department.
• Garfield County Hospital District, Pomeroy, WA –For resources and staff training to optimize usage of digitized health records.
• Lake Chelan Community Hospital, Chelan, WA –For new patient handling resources and associated staff training and education.
• Lincoln Hospital District #3, Davenport, WA –For training and education relating to a pain management and prescription monitoring program.
• North Valley Hospital District, Tonasket, WA – To fund enhanced security training and related resources in support of a multi-phased security and safety initiative.
• Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center, Odessa, WA - For the implementation of a new patient monitoring system focused on enhancing the safety of long-term geriatric patients.
• PMH Medical Center, Prosser, WA - For the development and implementation of a new patient fall reduction project.
• Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation, Pullman, WA - To support the development of on-line learning tools for staff education relating to critical respiratory distress conditions and monitoring.
• Skagit Regional Health, Mount Vernon, WA - To develop a patient education video that will orient patients to the hospital and address various topics relating to patient safety and satisfaction.
• Skyline Hospital, White Salmon, WA - To fund resources to enhance the hospital’s fall prevention program.
• The NATIVE Project, Spokane, WA - To fund the development and implementation of an enhanced infection control and prevention initiative.
• Umpqua Community Health Center, Roseburg, OR - To fund the creation of an interactive patient learning lab that will address various topics focused on improved health outcomes.
• Valley View Health Center, Chehalis, WA - To continue the success of the Medical Home Pain Recovery Program in reducing narcotic use for pain management through the use of alternative modalities.
• Weiser Memorial Hospital, Weiser ID - To implement enhancements to the patient safety program including the transition to a web-based tool for the trending of patient safety data.
