The Henry Ford and Litton Entertainment are once again recognizing America’s most innovative educators with the second annual The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Awards. In conjunction with the Daytime Emmy®-Award winning series The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation airing during “CBS Dream Team, It’s Epic!” Saturday morning block, the awards recognize teachers that are using the classroom to inspire innovation, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking among their students.

“In its first year, the awards program received a number of submissions from exemplary educators who are using unique and innovative ways to challenge their students inside the classroom,” said Patricia Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford. “Along with our partners at Litton Entertainment, we are proud to offer opportunities like these to recognize, encourage and better equip those educators with the tools they need to continue to improve upon their students’ experiences.”

Winners will be selected based on their original and creative approach to teaching, their demonstrated resourcefulness and the positive impact they have made. Student engagement, learning goals, and evidence achieving those goals will also be taken in consideration. All entries must be submitted by the February 5, 2016 deadline in order to be considered. The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Award winners will be announced on May 16, 2016.

Teachers can apply for The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation Teacher Innovator Awards by completing a submission form online or by mail that includes supportive materials of their creative curriculum in action, along with a written essay on how their teaching methodology is inspiring creativity, critical thinking, problem solving or interest in the STEM fields. This year, the program is also offering bonus points to educators who can create a lesson plan using segments from The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation that are aligned with state and national curriculum standards in any and all subjects. Twenty educators in total will receive prizes for their outstanding work with the top 10 first place winners receiving a week-long “Innovation Immersion Experience” at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan.

Hosted by Mo Rocca, CBS’ “Sunday Morning” correspondent and produced by Litton Entertainment, The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation tells the fascinating stories behind the historic innovators of the past and the forward-looking visionaries of today, and the extraordinary talents and dedication required to bring their inventions to life.
