Abt Associates Expands Climate Change Adaptation Capabilities
Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) October 01, 2015 -- Adding to Abt Associates’ growing reputation as a leading company in climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, Dr. Glen Anderson, a climate change and environmental economist with more than 30 years of experience internationally and in the United States, has joined the company.
“Abt Associates is a premier company working globally to solve the toughest challenges in climate change adaptation,” said Stephen Pelliccia, Vice President for Abt’s International Economic Growth (IEG) division. “Glen Anderson deepens our bench of leading climate economists and scientists at Abt who are working at the local, national and global levels to help assess the risks of climate change and develop evidence-based adaptation measures to respond.”
With the 2015 acquisition of Colorado-based environmental research and consulting firm Stratus Consulting (now part of Abt’s Environment and Natural Resources Division) and other recent hires, Abt Associates has added some of the world’s leading climate change adaptation analysts and economists including Hari Dulal, Charlotte Mack, Mikell O’Mealy, Joel Smith and Jason Vogel to its existing domestic and international roster of climate change experts.
“Glen Anderson joins an interdisciplinary team at Abt who bring together expertise in climate change, adaptation, climate sciences, ecology, environmental economics, and finance, to help policymakers around the world identify and assess adaptation options in response to multiple climate stresses,” said Dr. Joshua Lipton, vice president for Abt’s Environment and Natural Resources division.
Dr. Anderson, who will be the key senior economist leading adaptation and development assessments for Abt’s IEG Climate-Smart Development practice, most recently led the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Climate Change Resilient Development Project, a four-year initiative to support USAID’s Global Climate Change Office. The project’s climate adaptation-focused programs operated in 33 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America, and the Caribbean. He also served as a senior manager on climate change for Engility/International Resources Group. In addition, he has led work in environmental and natural resources policy and financing, as well as water resources management.
Dr. Anderson earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wisconsin. He received a B.A. in economics from the University of Washington.
