The National Wellness Institute, the world's longest-running wellness-focused nonprofit, has selected a new Executive Director to lead the organization.

We were impressed with his depth of experience in his work for the YMCA, and we have high hopes for the vision he has for the future of NWI

Matt Lund, past Executive Director of the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities, has been selected as the next Executive Director of the National Wellness Institute (NWI), the world’s preeminent wellness-based organization, by the NWI Board of Directors.

“We’re very excited to welcome Mr. Lund to NWI,” said Meg Jordan, NWI Board of Directors Co-President. “We were impressed with his depth of experience in his work for the YMCA, and we have high hopes for the vision he has for the future of NWI.”

Lund’s nonprofit experience is substantially rooted in his work with YMCA organizations in the Twin Cities, Wichita and Chicago. Having worked for YMCAs in capacities including Executive Director, Operations Director and Sports Director, he’s honed his abilities in creating and executing effective programs, strategic government partnerships and collaborations with other non-profit organizations to promote health and wellness within a membership organization, as well as sustaining growth for the organizations.

As Executive Director, Lund will oversee all of NWI’s operations, which include implementing the organizations mission and the board's strategic plans, developing educational opportunities for health and wellness professionals, planning and delivering the annual National Wellness Conference, and recruiting members. Lund’s experience in fundraising and relationship building is anticipated to be especially helpful in developing the National Wellness Institute Foundation so that it may endow NWI for years to come. Lund believes fundraising has been a key success to the commitment of community support and financial growth of each organization.

John Munson, Co-President of NWI, said, "Matt has brought a sensitivity to cultural diversity and gathering multiple perspectives to his work with boards, and we're delighted to have him and his family move to Stevens Point, and connect with this vibrant community."

Lund will join NWI as Executive Director on October 5, 2015.
