Mountainside Launches a New Campaign Aimed to Remove Stigma of Addiction
Canaan, CT (PRWEB) October 03, 2015 -- Mountainside Treatment Center is launching a new social media campaign and website aimed to remove the shame and stigma associated with addiction. #DoesntDefineMe is calling for anyone who has been affected by addiction to let the world know that recovery from addiction is possible and to encourage more individuals to seek treatment.
The campaign will launch at the first ever Unite to Face Addiction rally and concert being held in Washington D.C. on October 4th. Mountainside staff and alumni will travel to the rally to raise awareness about the public health crisis of drug and alcohol addiction in the U.S.
“Addiction still isn’t being talked about enough openly,” says Mountainside Executive Director Stephen Langley. “It is important for us to get the word out there that recovery is possible, and through efforts like these, we can take away the shame associated with addiction and empower individuals on their journey towards wellness.”
The #DoesntDefineMe campaign will be present during the rally — expected to include live performances from Steven Tyler, Sheryl Crow, and the Fray in addition to several notable speakers from around the nation — through the display of banners and the distribution of stickers promoting the DoesntDefine.Me site and social media hashtag.
