Epilepsy CME Webcast on Seizure Action Planning to Launch November 4, 2015
Bethesda, Maryland (PRWEB) October 05, 2015 -- CME Outfitters (CMEO), a leading accredited provider in continuing medical education, announces its upcoming neuroscienceCME Live and On Demand activity: Remain Calm, Stay Safe, Be Prepared: Developing and Implementing a Seizure Action Plan. The live program will launch on Wednesday, November 4 at 12:00pm ET. Faculty experts Joseph I. Sirven, MD, Patricia Dean, ARNP, MSN, and Sheryl R. Haut, MD will lead an interactive one-hour discussion that will challenge clinicians to improve outcomes in their patients with epilepsy. Neurologists, epileptologists, epilepsy nurse specialists, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other health care professionals interested in epilepsy are encouraged to register.
CMEO’s Live and On Demand format is an online and mobile 90-minute, live, panel discussion that offers cutting-edge insights from national experts in epilepsy, as well as insights from top patient influencers in the online epilepsy community. This live interactive broadcast is a key differentiator and unique to CMEO online activities. Clinicians will have the opportunity to engage in real time with faculty and with peers through Q&A and Twitter. Included in the 90-minute activity is a special 30-minute Q&A segment designed to provide learners time to ask additional questions, interact with the experts, and share challenges via phone, by using the Q&A widget on the web interface, email, or Twitter.
“We’re adding a unique twist to this activity – by utilizing responses gathered directly from top patient influencers in epilepsy who are advocates on social media,” said Shari Tordoff, CMEO Managing Partner, “Their responses to key questions about the needs of their community of patients with epilepsy will be integrated into the instructional design of this activity, providing context directly from the patient voice—and perhaps a light bulb moment—something we think participants will really find useful to their practice.”
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
• Identify seizure types and the treatments that are most likely to be effective for each type.
• Promote patient’s active participation in managing and understanding their health by incorporating shared decision-making in the creation of a Seizure Action Plan for patients with epilepsy.
• Develop a Seizure Action Plan that incorporates the latest evidence regarding seizure rescue formulations.
This activity is supported by an educational grant from Upsher-Smith Laboratories, Inc.
