New On-Demand SAE International Presentation Explores Upgrades in Fluorosilicone Elastomers in Automotive Applications
WARRENDALE, Pa. (PRWEB) October 02, 2015 -- SAE International offers a free, on-demand presentation that shows how fluoroslicone rubber (FSR) innovations can help enable performance improvement and cost reduction in a range of automotive applications.
“Fluorosilicone Elastomers for the Hot, the Harsh, and the Turbocharged” is a 10-minute program sponsored by Dow Corning.
Supplier-driven innovation and continuous improvement of proven materials can help meet vehicle design requirements for more fuel efficiency with less emissions. During this free, 10-minute mini webcast, an automotive application engineering and technical service specialist will highlight recent advancements in Silastic® brand FSRs that involve upgrades in performance properties and new material options for added durability and processing ease.
Presenter will be Dr. Andrew Mountney, Silicone Rubber Product Development and Technical Support Engineer, Dow Corning Corp. Dr. Mountney’s work focuses mainly on automotive applications but with experience in a wide application and processing base including aerospace, sub-sea, and high voltage insulation. He earned a PhD in chemistry from the University of Wales, Cardiff in 1991 and joined Dow Corning at its Barry, Wales plant in the Silicone Rubber development group working on new base rubber compounds. Following a three-year assignment as a Technical Support Chemist with the Liquid Silicone Rubber product team in Wiesbaden, Germany, he returned to the U.K. in 1999 to start his current role.
