Jude Kearney, Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Africa Practice, participated as a member of the host committee and group leader during the recent Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative-US event which took place on Monday, Sept. 28 in New York.
Kearney, other members of the host committee, and event participants, which included Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, gathered to address current obstacles facing many African countries, and the role that the US can play in minimizing these challenges.
The Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative (AGI) helps African leaders bridge the gap between their vision for a better future and their government’s ability to achieve it. AGI does this by strengthening the government’s capacity to deliver programs that will change ordinary people’s lives for the better. AGI works with Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea, Nigeria and Ethiopia at present, with new countries on the horizon.
Kearney’s practice focuses on corporate transactions, with an emphasis on international project finance. He handles various matters involving energy development, mergers and acquisitions, complex litigation and corporate matters, and has specific experience in international markets, including Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia. He works with major U.S. and foreign clients in the areas of energy, telecommunications, infrastructure projects and financial services, providing counsel on the structure and terms of his clients’ commercial relationships as they relate to project developments in foreign markets.
