Function Point Productivity Software has launched a time tracking app for iPhone® and Apple Watch that is synchronized with Function Point’s cloud-based, project management system for creative agencies. The free time tracking app, native to iPhone and Apple Watch, helps users to keep track of the time they work on specific jobs, while travelling or when working at multiple locations.
“Over ninety percent of Function Point users track time in the system, and we wanted to create a simple, accessible tool that would make it even easier to track time out of the office, through mobile devices,” said Tate Lillies, Function Point VP of Product. The app also has a timer which draws from the time of day, and can be started and stopped on the fly to accurately track time. If users go offline—for instance, when flying—they can still track time on their project work. In addition, users can save their favourites for jobs on which they are constantly tracking time.
The app is fully integrated with Function Point project management software, which supports creative agencies in streamlining their business and increasing productivity. “Our clients were asking for a way to keep track of time on their mobile devices,” said Chris Wilson, President and CEO of Function Point. “The new time tracking app provides one more option for people who are on the go, and to further simplify an essential process. The conceptual work for the app began after the product support team at Function Point identified the need for a time tracking app during consultations with clients. At the time, Function Point was building a new API for its project management software, which provided a foundation for the development of the iOS time tracking app. The Function Point development team had been interested in building a product with a third-party, and the concept for the app presented the ideal opportunity for collaboration. Function Point chose Conquer Mobile, a Vancouver-based, custom mobile app developer, to partner with on developing the iPhone and Apple Watch app. The companies’ successful joint effort has resulted in a product that will add one more tool for agency staff that need to track their time while on the move.
