Knoxville Targeted for Aggressive Urgent Care Growth
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) October 05, 2015 -- American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of urgent care and accessible primary care, expands its footprint in Knoxville, with the opening of its second urgent care clinic. The Birmingham-based company invested $4.5 million dollars to purchase land and build the facility, located at 9203 Kingston Pike in the Cedar Bluff community in Knoxville.
It’s all part of AFC’s aggressive growth strategy to open five Knoxville American Family Care urgent care clinics by the end of 2016. The company, with corporately owned and franchisee owned clinics, has targeted Tennessee for expansion and by the end of next year will have 15 clinics open statewide in Knoxville, Memphis, Nashville, and Chattanooga.
“We recognize that Knoxville and the major cities in Tennessee are bursting with growth. More jobs mean more people who will need access to affordable, accessible healthcare,” says Randy Johansen, President of American Family Care. “Plus Knoxville has long wait times at the ER. For non-critical illnesses and injuries, people need quality and efficient treatment and diagnosis so they can get in and out and on with their busy lives.”
ProPublica – an independent, non-profit that tracks hospital wait times reports the typical emergency room visit for patients in Tennessee hospitals is at least 2 hours. In contrast, over the past 33 years, AFC has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room urgent care, resulting in an average patient visit of about an hour from registration to discharge. Underlying this efficiency is a high-tech approach, including digital x-rays, on-site lab testing, state of the art diagnostics, and electronic medical records. The clinics are staffed by kind, caring and compassionate health care professionals. The Cedar Bluff facility serves patients daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and no appointments are necessary.
AFC targeted Knoxville for expansion because of the large corporations moving into the area such as Innovate Manufacturing, Inc. and Hicks Plastics.
To serve these companies, AFC’s Cedar Bluff clinic features a full suite of occupational medicine and workers compensation services. These services include OSHA-mandated medical surveillance exams, D.O.T. and non D.O.T. drugs screens and physicals, and blood alcohol tests, among many other services.
“A healthy workforce is a fundamental ingredient for a healthy business,” says Johansen. “Injured employees impact a company in terms of both worker's compensation expenses and lost production time, so we work hard to help make it simple and affordable to keep employees healthy.”
