Party With A Purpose Raises Over $800,000 for Children in Nicaragua
Rosemont, IL (PRWEB) October 08, 2015 -- Party with a Purpose just wrapped up its fifth annual event on Friday night in Rosemont, where $300,000 was raised to support ORPHANetwork, a nonprofit serving 23,000 orphaned and vulnerable children in Nicaragua.
Party with a Purpose was started in 2011 by John Pitzaferro, CEO and Founder of TransNational Payments in Rosemont, after a trip to Nicaragua where he was deeply impacted by the work of ORPHANetwork. In just five years, Party with a Purpose has raised over $800,000 to benefit 1,200 children living in Nueva Vida, a refugee community ORPHANetwork serves. The party alone has provided over 1.6 million meals, along with health assessments and holistic care, which have collectively reduced the malnutrition rate from 36% to 6%.
Over 400 supporters attended this year’s Party with a Purpose, held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Notable sponsors included TransNational Payments, Moretti’s, and many other Chicagoland businesses. The event featured food, games, a mechanical bull, live music by 7th Heaven, a local Chicago rock band, and raffles for a Harley Davidson VRod and a Yamaha Jet Ski. Travel packages and professional Chicago sports tickets and memorabilia from the Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs were some of the popular silent auction items, and a 1990 Ford Mustang GT convertible was also auctioned off during the party. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the party and the auctions went to supporting ORPHANetwork.
ORPHANetwork currently partners with nearly 200 Local Church Initiatives in Nicaragua to supply daily holistic care to almost 23,000 vulnerable children in the form of nutritional food, basic medical and dental care, clean water, hygiene training, and spiritual development. Additionally, ORPHANetwork cares for 367 orphaned and abandoned children through their partnerships with six orphanage homes across Nicaragua.
