Unique Game Show Rounds Out Fifth Year at WinStar World Casino and Resort
Thackerville, OK (PRWEB) October 26, 2015 -- The World’s Game Show at WinStar World Casino and Resort recently celebrated its fifth year by giving out nearly half a million dollars in prizes in September. Casino officials reported attendance at the Sept. 25 and 26 shows totaled more than 4,000 guests.
This is no surprise to the creator of the show, Michelle Colbert. Ask her and she’ll describe The World’s Game Show as “a casino promotion on steroids.”
Colbert, an Oklahoma native, said the show has developed into a winning combination of money, magic and games. The show is based at WinStar World Casino and Resort, in Thackerville, a property owned and operated by the Chickasaw Nation.
In 2010, Colbert took her background in casino promotions and entertainment in a new direction when she started The World’s Game Show.
“I wanted more than a glitzy Vegas-style show,” Colbert said. “My idea was to develop a quarter of a million dollar show that focused strongly on volume and return on investment. The World’s Game Show is a casino promotion on steroids.”
The two-hour show is held four times during the calendar year and Colbert said it typically draws thousands of guests per show. But you can’t buy a ticket to get in.
Patrons must have a WinStar Club Passport card that they sign up for at the Players Club desk. Patrons earn entries into the show by using their card at any of WinStar’s participating electronic gaming machines. There is a promotional period where random daily drawings award selected patrons invitations to the show finale.
WinStar General Manager Wayne McCormick said guests from all over the region come to the casino to have a chance to take part in the show.
“At WinStar we are always looking for ways to enhance the guests’ overall experience,” McCormick said. “Michelle’s show turns guests into loyal patrons who return for not only a chance to see The World’s Game Show, but to try new games in the casino, to eat at our ever-expanding list of dining options, to stay at the hotel and to see a concert at WinStar’s entertainment venue – the Global Event Center.”
During a show, more than $400,000 is typically up for grabs in bonus play, cash, cars and trips. Colbert said the guests love the thrill of potentially winning cash and luxury prizes and they are never disappointed by the show itself. That’s where the show’s host – mentalist and magician David Magee – comes in.
“David brings the entertainment value to the show. I knew his talents were needed to take the show to a new level,” Colbert said.
Magee and Colbert now work together as business partners. Together they decided to bring in Las Vegas-based consultant Johnny Thompson, who Colbert said has worked with performers such as Penn and Teller, Lance Burton and Chris Angel.
Colbert, Magee and Thompson create themed shows featuring opening entertainment acts, in addition to the on-stage games guests play. Colbert now envisions taking The World’s Game Show on the road.
“We have enjoyed an incredible run at WinStar and will continue to pack the venue there, but now it’s time to expand,” said Colbert.
Her plan is to target casinos across the globe.
“We see the show in casinos all over the world, generating top returns that are incomparable to any gaming promotion in the market,” she said.
The next game show will be held on Dec. 12 and 13 inside WinStar’s Global Event Center. For more information about The World’s Game Show, call (888) 436-2433 or visit the WinStar website for more information about game show dates, times and rules.
