Kenguru Announces New Reservation System for Its Revolutionary Wheelchair-Accessible Electric Vehicle
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 07, 2015 -- Kenguru, a division of KLD Energy Technologies, announces today the launch of a new zero money down and paid priority reservation system for its upcoming wheelchair-accessible vehicle to be released in 2016.
On the heels of a recent acquisition by Austin-based KLD Energy Technologies, the Kenguru is a unique, first of its kind electric vehicle specifically-designed for individuals in wheelchairs. Utilizing an all-electric, front-wheel drive platform, the vehicle is powered by the patented KLD oneDRIVE™ system and features a unique rear-entry lift-gate and ramp, making access convenient for members of the wheelchair community.
With a scheduled 2016 production run of about 1,000 units, the Kenguru will be sold through select dealers. Reservation levels will be used to purchase a place in line on the Kenguru waitlist and may be made on the company’s reserve page.
Kenguru shall be displaying its vehicle at the upcoming REHACARE 2015 show in Dusseldorf, Germany Oct 14-17. A new video of the Kenguru and its lift-gate in action can be found on the company’s website.
With a focus on affordability, a main attribute of the Kenguru is that it will come at little to no cost for disabled veterans. Qualified veterans may choose to utilize the Veterans Benefits Administration Automobile Allowance program to purchase a Kenguru. The program provides qualifying disabled service members and veterans an allowance toward the purchase of an automobile, as well as a separate appropriation for modifications and enhancements.
Kenguru is currently discussing arrangements with select National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) dealers to provide regional sales, distribution and service channels for the vehicle.
Classified as a low-speed vehicle (LSV), and top speed limited to 25 mph per federal regulations, the Kenguru is capable of over 50+ mile range on a single charge. With a MSRP of $24,995, the Kenguru also features dual onboard KLD oneDRIVE™ electric motors, Samsung SDI lithium-ion battery power, air conditioning, power windows, basic hand controls, and Bluetooth audio system. Wireless charging will be offered as an upgrade. Future upgrades will include advanced hand controls and joystick-operated control options.
