Fio Debuts Multiplex Rapid Test Reader with Integrated Data System at MEDICA 2015
Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) October 07, 2015 -- Fio Corporation will make its first-ever appearance this year at MEDICA, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair, with an exhibit showcasing its integrated diagnostic and data technology. The four-day MEDICA 2015 fair runs Nov. 16 to 19 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Fio developed the Fionet™ system to respond to quality assurance and data management challenges faced by healthcare providers and decision makers in today’s increasingly decentralised healthcare markets. When used with the Deki™ Reader, an intelligent mobile diagnostic device that provides an automated analysis of rapid tests for multiple health conditions, Fionet makes it possible to remotely monitor operator performance and transform aggregated field data into immediately actionable insight.

Fio’s appearance at MEDICA this year will provide an opportunity for the company to share lessons learned from bringing innovation to decentralised healthcare services after years of experience operating in developing countries. The Toronto-based company first marketed the Fionet system in Africa and Latin America to demonstrate its utility even in the most remote settings.
In 2013 Fio’s work in Colombia contributed to the achievement of the top “Malaria Champions of the Americas” award from the Pan American Health Organization and other partners. This year Fio launched a collaborative initiative sponsored by Ivanhoe Mines, a Canadian mineral exploration and development company, to support the government’s ongoing campaign to fight malaria in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Fio also continues to contribute to the United States defense department’s ongoing research in biosurveillance and is working with Corgenix Medical Corp to adapt their rapid test for Ebola to operate with the Deki Reader, so that it can be used in combination with the Fionet system to better identify and track suspected Ebola patients and their contacts in the future.
