ArcheMedX Comparative Research on eLearning to be Recognized at CBI’s Independent Medical Education & Grants Breakthrough Summit
Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) October 07, 2015 -- A recent comparative research study on eLearning effectiveness, conducted by ArcheMedX, Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM), and AcademicCME has been selected as one of three “Changemakers” to be highlighted at the 2015 Independent Medical Education & Grants Breakthrough Summit. The Changemaker Channel program is designed to recognize research that is transforming the way continuing education is designed and delivered.
This pioneering research was designed to understand the comparative effectiveness of different online education models. The intervention group participated in more interactive online education, designed according to the ArcheMedX Learning Actions Model and powered by the award-winning ArcheViewer eLearning and Analysis platform, and the control group participated in more traditional online education delivered through an existing online CE portal. The data collected within this program was evaluated utilizing a single-sample analysis of pre-test and initial post-test performance of 711 clinician learners. These data revealed that learners who participated in the ArcheViewer-powered education demonstrated changes in knowledge and competence that were nearly four-times greater than that of the control group who participated in a traditional online series utilizing the same primary video content.
As Dr. Brian S. McGowan, Chief Learning Officer of ArcheMedX, explains, “In partnership with AcademicCME and PIM we were able to design and implement a study that provides a critical research framework for the CE community. We need to move on from asking the question ‘did our interventions work’ to begin asking the question ‘why did our interventions work’”. He continued, “By now we should feel generally confident that appropriately designed eLearning can move the bar for our learners, but with these results we now know that the bar can be raised much, much higher!”
This educational series was supported by an independent educational grant from Sanofi US and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Alliance, which allowed PIM and AcademicCME to independently develop and distribute a three-part educational curriculum entitled "Incorporating Advancements in Monoclonal Antibody Therapeutics into Patient Management Strategies for Dyslipidemia" and provided the opportunity to execute this research project.
