AntiGravity Lands in Boston's Alternative Fitness & Dance Studio and Adrianne Haslet-Davis Takes Flight
Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) October 11, 2015 -- Swet Studio™, Boston’s first Alternative Dance and Fitness studio, located at 480 Tremont Street in the South End, formally opened its doors to the public this past week. Adrianne Haslet-Davis stopped by the studio for its opening week festivities and joined Swet Studio™, as one of its newest members. A survivor of the Boston Marathon bombings, who lost a leg below the knee, Ms. Haslet-Davis is a courageous dancer and motivational speaker, who has overcome her injuries, and spoken before Congress as well as national broadcast media, and provided inspiration for those attempting to overcome adversity.
“It was truly amazing,” described Haslet-Davis of her first Antigravity class. “I feel like my whole body was stretched out. As a professional athlete, I have experienced many forms of stretching, but nothing like that. It really was unbelievable. It was the first time I tried the class, and I’m definitely hooked!”
After taking flight in her first Antigravity ® class, Ms. Haslet-Davis graced the floor and danced with Swet-Studio’s same-sex ballroom instructor, Kalin Mitov. “He’s an incredible instructor, has a great love of his craft, and it is very easy to follow his lead.”
Swet Studio™, which touts itself as being alternative, held free classes for the public on October 3, 2015 as part of its Grand Opening, followed by Boston’s first “Alternative Fitness Fashion Show,” which was attended by the general public and media.
Swet Studio’s motto is “Get Fit, Stay Social.” The studio is the vision of Silviya Mihaylova, a thirty year old fitness instructor, who emigrated from Eastern Europe at the age of nineteen. The studio, which is proud of not having a single dumbbell, was designed to be anything but average. With beautiful sprung bamboo flooring, a loft like industrial lounge space, and a club lighting and sound system, Swet Studio ™ is unique. “The Studio should be more than just a place to go and workout,” says Mihaylova, “but a place to make friends, who share common interests and an active lifestyle. Ultimately, it is a place to have fun.”
Jessie Zimmerer, Legislative Director and South End Liaison for Massachusetts State Senator, Sonja Chang-Diaz, was present on behalf of the Senator to cut the ribbon for the grand opening.
Models, styled by Newbury Street’s Salon EvaMichelle, strutted across the studio’s bamboo floor, to the beats of DJ LeahV, Boston Music Award Best DJ, while Moth Story Slam winner, Charlotte Glasser, in from New York City, directed the event.
Silviya Mihaylova, Swet Studio’s owner and manager, was thrilled with the turnout. Said Mihaylova, “I am incredibly grateful for all the support we have received from the community. It was a great day and an amazing launch.”
“I also want to thank Adrianne for making it a memorable week for us. She is a remarkable woman and incredibly cool.”
AntiGravity® classes at Swet Studio ™ are offered by certified instructors versed in the principles, technique, and philosophy of the exciting aerial program. Says Mihaylova, “Each class is designed to be an event.”
