Florida Hospital Joins the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Treasure Chests 5K Run/Walk, benefitting Breast Cancer Research and Patient Services
(PRWEB) October 08, 2015 -- Florida Hospital, the Exclusive Hospital of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will participate for the second consecutive year in the team’s Treasure Chests 5K Run/Walk benefitting breast cancer research and patient services. The race is expected to attract more than four thousand participants and is being held on Sunday morning, October 11th at Raymond James Stadium prior to the Bucs game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, kickoff is at 1pm.
This will be the second year in a row where the Florida Hospital Foundation is a beneficiary of the proceeds raised at this event. The funds will be directed to support breast cancer patient services. During the event, Florida Hospital will give away free pink “scrub caps” to all participants and encourage runners to join the Pink Army. The Florida Hospital Pink Army began in 2010 to increase community awareness about early detection and prevention of breast cancer. Today, there are over 53,000 members across the state of Florida.
The purpose is simple – to encourage women to join the Pink Army, get screened and donate. Race participants will also have the chance to win a pink autographed Buccaneers football and enjoy the free Florida Hospital photo booth full of Bucs and pink props to create fun digital photos that can be used in social media to help spread the word.
“As a health care leader in our community, our goal is to encourage women to take action for their health by joining the Pink Army, making a commitment to get screened, and spreading the lifesaving message to their friends and loved ones. We recognize that women today are very busy, so we’ve made it really easy for them to schedule a mammogram online at JoinThePinkArmy.com. We believe Florida Hospital has an important role to play in creating a healthier community, and we value our partners at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for helping us achieve this goal and recognizing this important health issue for women,” said Lauren Key, Vice President of Marketing, Florida Hospital West Florida Region.
To further illustrate Florida Hospital’s commitment to breast cancer prevention, more than 500 Florida Hospital employees will be supporting the Treasure Chests 5K Run/Walk event and attending the Bucs vs. Jaguars game following the race.
As part of the Bucs Dream Program, Florida Hospital will host a breast cancer survivor at Sunday’s game which is highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness. The survivor will be an Honorary Race Starter at the Treasure Chests 5K, will be included in the half-time program to raise awareness about breast cancer and have the opportunity to watch the game from the Pirate Ship.
