Heroes in Recovery Awards Presented at Foundations Recovery Network’s Moments of Change National Conference
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) October 13, 2015 -- Heroes in Recovery (HIR) is proud to announce the recipients of its biannual Heroes in Recovery Awards at Foundations Recovery Network’s Moments of Change conference in West Palm Beach, Florida. Rob Waggener, CEO of Foundations Recovery Network presented the one-of-a-kind awards to Noah Levine and Dean Dauphinais who exemplify the ideals of the Heroes in Recovery movement.
Noah Levine’s career has been characterized by selfless efforts to empower recovering addicts with insights and practices from his quarter century of Buddhist study. He has founded several charities that serve the recovery community, including the Mind Body Awareness Project, the Buddhist Recovery Network and most recently Refuge Recovery. He teaches meditation classes, workshops and retreats nationally in addition to leading groups in juvenile halls and prisons. He recently founded Refuge Recovery Centers, an outpatient treatment center in Los Angeles, and set up the Refuge Recovery charity for the purpose of serving the growing network of peer-led Refuge Recovery support groups.
Dean Dauphinais is a passionate recovery advocate who began writing a personal blog to share his experiences with his son’s addiction and continues to raise awareness via his blog and as a contributing writer for a variety of websites. Dean has served as an advocate for Heroes in Recovery over the past two years, volunteers as a parent coach with the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and volunteers at the Dawn Farm treatment center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He has been open, honest and totally transparent about his family’s struggle and is tireless in his efforts to break the stigma associated with addiction and mental illness.
