Centegra Health System’s Successful Implementation of T-System’s EDIS Results In Immediately Improved Efficiency and Quality Metrics
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 13, 2015 -- T-System and Centegra Health System, a prominent hospital network headquartered in McHenry County, Illinois with more than 59,000 emergency department visits per year, today announced the successful and rapid deployment of EV™, an emergency department information system (EDIS) from T-System, to help improve clinical, operational and financial outcomes.
In less than four days, Centegra Hospitals McHenry and Woodstock successfully went live with EV. Centegra immediately reported improved efficiency and positive quality metrics, despite facing an unexpected spike in patient volume during implementation. On the first day Centegra Hospital – McHenry went live with EV, their left without being seen rate dropped to zero.
“During previous EHR implementation experiences, the vendor we were working with was not onsite for support and the experience was disastrous,” said Daniel Campagna, M.D., medical director at Centegra Health System. “The support we received from T-System was incredible during the entire process from pre- to post-go live. Things were going so well by day four that the T-System trainers didn’t have much to do since everyone was already well trained.”
After assessing several solutions, Centegra chose T-System’s EDIS for its ability to meet the workflow needs of clinicians and improve efficiency, a challenge the team was ready to overcome. The hospital system reports they have experienced a positive response across departments including inpatient, lab, pharmacy and radiology. Clinical efficiency has also improved with physicians being able to complete a patient chart in two minutes on average.
“Our previous system was detrimental to productivity. It could take up to 50 clicks just to administer a single medication,” said Catie Schmit RN, BSN, CEN, TNS, emergency services director of Centegra Health System. “In addition to improving workflow and efficiency, T-System enhances the quality of care we are able to provide.”
EV was implemented with nurse and physician charting, clinical decision support, CPOE, e-prescribing and analytics.
“We are excited to be chosen by Centegra as a key partner and best-in-breed solution for their emergency department,” said Freda Oberholzer, vice president of client services at T-System. “It is an honor to help deliver a solution to a health system that is continually focused on ways to improve patient outcomes every day.”
