Greenberg Traurig’s Tom Ara to Speak on Entertainment Industry Business Entity Issues at LACBA Event
Los Angeles (PRWEB) October 12, 2015 -- Shareholder Tom Ara of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will join the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) this week to share his insight on a panel titled, “Choice of Business Entity Issues in Entertainment.” The event will be held this Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 11:45 a.m. in Beverly Hills.
The event, presented by LACBA’s Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property Section, will discuss the processes involved when selecting entities for entertainment projects. Specifically, the panelists will focus on when to establish an LLC versus a corporation for a project-specific single purpose vehicle (SPV), and larger issues surrounding SPVs. The panel will discuss when and where to establish the SPV, how the SPV should fit into the corporate structure, and how SPVs can become guild signatories for the project. In addition, relevant tax issues and foreign co-productions will be addressed in relation to entertainment projects.
Ara, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Entertainment and Media Practice, advises feature film studios, television networks, production companies, Internet and mobile-based content producers and distributors in corporate transactions as well as in the development, production, and distribution of motion picture, television, and new media content. In addition, Ara acts as chief outside counsel to multiple motion picture, television, and new media production and distribution companies as well as a business advisor to many such companies in connection with their launch. Ara handles an array of complex entertainment transactions across the globe, particularly with clients and transactions in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
