Ferguson 1000 will host its 3rd Hiring event on October 17, 2015. The event will kick off with an invitation only private reception/lecture Friday evening, October 16th. The night will feature entrepreneurs, business owners, politicians, community organizations with special keynote speaker Priceline’s Founder/CEO Jeff Hoffman and White House policy, Diversity and inclusion Technology advisor Dr. Marvin Carr. After the death of Michael Brown Jr. on August 9, 2014, Ferguson and the entire St. Louis region have become the epicenter for economic disparity, unethical police practices and racial profiling. Ferguson 1000’s CEO Dave Spence desire to create a new model and standard for a more inclusive dialogue between leadership and the community they serve. The first step is to implement systems that will encourage cooperative job creation, entrepreneurship and empowerment through technology, youth and minority business development.
The last Ferguson 1000 Hiring Event in July of this year was held at Ferguson Community Center where 43 companies represented, 700 participants attended and nearly 100 people HIRED ON THE SPOT the day of the event. Through Ferguson 1000 corporate partners, over 600 jobs have been made available to residents in Ferguson and the entire St. Louis region.
The great need for economic relief motivated Mr. Spence to assist in the economic development of Ferguson and the surrounding areas through the creation of Ferguson 1000 Jobs initiative.
Ferguson 1000 aim to bring together some of the St. Louis area’s largest employers to give county residents, especially those in Ferguson, job training, business development, and employment opportunities. The organization was founded by businessman and former gubernatorial candidate Dave Spence.
The Hiring Event is from 9 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, October 17, 2015, and will be held at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park, located at 5600 Oakland Ave, St. Louis, Mo 63110. Ferguson 1000 Jobs are asking participants to register online for the upcoming Hiring Event and the job readiness prep classes. Registering for the event online gives the applicants an advantage to be automatically added to a database to help match them with future employment opportunity if they are not successful getting hired the day of the event. The database can match their skills with available job openings in the greater St. Louis area. Over 70 companies have confirmed.
Speakers will be on hand to discuss employment and entrepreneur strategies.
