The Encore Career Network is hosting an Open House to introduce non-profit agencies, government organizations and individuals to their new program that launched this past summer. Join us on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 8 am – 10 am at 5000 Euclid Avenue, Suite 100, Cleveland, OH 44103.
The Encore Career Network, a new division of Mature Services, draws upon the expertise, passion and talents that individuals have gained over their career to assist non-profit and government agencies. The program is part of the Cleveland Foundation’s Encore Cleveland initiative, whose mission is to channel the time, energy and talents of experienced Clevelanders into solving community challenges and filling unmet needs.
Encore Career Network is designed to deliver new sources of talent to organizations through paid part-time positions in which skilled, experienced professionals (ages 50+) are matched with social-purpose organizations. Individuals will fill capacity building needs in areas such as finance, human resources, marketing, grant writing, or provide direct services in areas such as tutoring, mentoring or other intergenerational programming.
“Whether their aim is to gain experience to help them re-enter the workforce or to engage in meaningful part-time employment during retirement, Encore Career Network shows potential for making a positive impact on our workforce system, community and in the lives of many individuals,” noted Paul Magnus, Vice President for Workforce Development with Mature Services, Inc.
This program is stemming from the current shift in demographics. According to Encore.org (since 2011, when the first baby boomers turned 65), some 10,000 Americans have passed that milestone each day, a trend predicted to continue through 2020. For many, there will be 20+ years of healthy life left. The goal of the Encore movement is to tap into that extensive wealth of knowledge, skill sets and experiences and to create a pathway to get it back into the local community.
