Friendship Village Earns Deficiency-Free Survey Rating
KALAMAZOO, Michigan (PRWEB) October 14, 2015 -- Friendship Village achieved one of the highest designations of quality care and services to its residents – a deficiency-free rating in this year’s survey by the State of Michigan’s Bureau of Health Services - Licensing & Regulatory Affairs division (LARA).
The LARA survey process is a complex and rigorous yearly inspection of nursing facilities to assure all are operating under federal and state regulations to maintain quality patient care. It is one of the top indications of excellence for nursing facilities.
The rigorous inspection surveys are unannounced and conducted for approximately a week. A thorough review of core criteria including quality care, safety, administration, food service, nursing care and patient rights is conducted. The inspection team carefully observes and evaluates all aspects of resident care and nursing facility procedures and practices, assessing facility compliance with hundreds of specific state and federal standards. The inspection determined Friendship Village was 100 percent in compliance and was issued a deficiency-free survey rating. Less than three percent of nursing facilities in Michigan earn the distinction of a perfect rating.
"It is a tremendous honor to receive this perfect rating. The results of this survey demonstrate the high level of care Friendship Village provides to its residents and their families every day,” said Jeremy Phillips, Director of Nursing. “I congratulate the entire team whose compassionate care and unyielding commitment contributed to this success.”
As national and local health regulations become more and more stringent, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to achieve a deficiency-free rating. These surveys are an excellent tool for prospective residents in Kalamazoo and surrounding areas to make an informed decision about their senior living and health care options.
“We are proud to add this distinction to our 40-year tradition of excellence,” adds Jeff Hagen, Executive Director. “As a senior living pioneer, we remain committed to leading the way in patient care and services in Kalamazoo. I commend the staff on their hard work and dedication to Friendship Village’s most valued treasure – the residents we serve.”
