Statewide Meeting Welcomes Lawmakers
Gainesville, Fla. (PRWEB) October 16, 2015 -- The Florida Farm Bureau will welcome and honor various state legislators in Ponte Vedra Beach at its 74th Annual Meeting, Oct. 28-30 at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort.
The meeting is themed “Growing is our Business” and will also spotlight award and recognition programs for young farmers and ranchers, county Farm Bureau volunteers and top farm leaders for distinguished service to agriculture.
State Sen. Kelli Stargel and State Rep. Katie Edwards will be recognized as FFBF’s Legislators of the Year for their dedication to Florida agriculture and House Speaker Steve Crisafulli will be recognized for his longstanding support of Florida’s farmers and ranchers during his time in the Florida House of Representatives.
Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam will honor farmers and ranchers for environmental stewardship at the Commissioner’s Agricultural Environmental Leadership Awards Breakfast and Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater will address attendees on the economic impact of agriculture in our state.
“We are excited to celebrate the contributions of our members, state legislators and volunteer leaders on behalf of agriculture. With the unwavering support and advocacy of our members, we are truly able to represent Florida’s farm families and grow as a grassroots organization,” said Florida Farm Bureau President John Hoblick.
Convention highlights will include the President’s Awards Banquet, storyteller Dr. Dale Henry, a water forum featuring discussions on water quality and quantity issues by top Florida decision-makers and informative breakout sessions on drone technology and membership recruitment and retention.
Other events include a member benefits tradeshow, a silent auction benefiting Ag in the Classroom and agricultural scholarships. Voting delegates will also set policy issues for the next year.
