Salolampi Foundation and Finlandia Foundation National Team Up to Support the Salolampi Finnish Language Village for Students by Providing Generous Scholarships
Minneapolis, Minnesota (PRWEB) October 15, 2015 -- Salolampi Foundation and Finlandia Foundation National have joined together to raise awareness for Finnish language and culture by offering generous scholarships and incentives to students, ages 7 to 18 years old, who attend Salolampi Finnish Language Village summer camp in 2016.
The Salolampi Foundation is pleased to announce that all students who register for summer camp in 2016 will receive a Salolampi scholarship. In addition, Concordia Language Villages of Concordia College, which operates the camp with support from Salolampi Foundation, offers significant early-bird incentives for students who apply by December 1st, 2015. All students are encouraged to register for camp and apply for scholarships by April 1st, 2016 to maximize the financial benefits that are available.
“These tremendous scholarships reflect the generosity of the Finnish community and our commitment to providing an outstanding immersive experience, where children learn to speak Finnish and are exposed to Finnish culture,” said Amy “Iida” Tervola Hultberg, Dean of Salolampi Language Village and a fifth-generation Finnish-American. “Salolampi is a unique place where each child can build lasting friendships and understand more about themselves within the framework of a global community.”
Salolampi, which means “pond by the woods” in Finnish, is an immersive language experience, which aims to “transport” students to the country of Finland. The picturesque lakeside camp, located in beautiful Bemidji, Minnesota, features traditional Finnish architecture to recreate an authentic, quaint Finnish village. It is a special place where camp counselors speak fluent Finnish, children, who are called “villagers,” participate in Finnish language classes and activities daily, and everyone enjoys traditional Finnish meals.
