A&P Donates $2,500 in School Supplies to School District 27J’s Vikan Middle School
DENVER, CO (PRWEB) October 16, 2015 -- In order to ensure that students would start the school year with the right tools, A&P’s Mountain States region donated $2,500 in school supplies to Vikan Middle School in Brighton, Colorado. In conjunction with its annual retreat, the Mountain States team donated calculators, binders, pens, paper and other essential learning materials to stock the school’s Student Resource Center.
“Getting everyone together for a fun-filled day of activities and teambuilding is always great. Being able to give back to kids in need at the same time makes it even better,” said Tom Stone, A&P’s K-12 Project Executive.
The school supplies were collected by teams of five or six employees as they competed in a unique version of “The Amazing Race” at Arrow C Ranch in Parker, Colorado. Teams competed in challenges including archery, a bicycle obstacle course, human Hungry Hungry Hippos, a western-themed photoshoot and an aircraft design competition.
At the conclusion of the retreat, A&P was thrilled to be able to donate dozens of bags of school supplies to Vikan Middle School’s assistant principal, Sam Ortega, and attendance/community liaison, Ruth Smith.
“As community builders we have worked in hundreds of K-12 schools in the region,” said Tom Horsting, SVP for A&P Mountain States. “It feels good to give back so that these kids can use these learning spaces to their full potential.” Vikan Middle School is part of School District 27J in Brighton, Colorado, a growing community northeast of Denver with plans for future school development.
