Pardon Services Canada and the Canadian Trucking Alliance Speed up Expedited Border Crossing for Truck Drivers
(PRWEB) October 16, 2015 -- Vancouver, BC - Pardon Services Canada and the Canadian Trucking Alliance have paired together to offer a more efficient way for commercial drivers crossing the border. FAST Cards, the Free and Secure Trade program, ensures safe and secure border and trade security while dually serving as a an effective method to enhancing legal trade and promoting Canadian competitiveness in the international market. Now with Pardon Services Canada, FAST Card applications are processed quicker and more efficiently. Their experts help applicants compile necessary documents to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.
When applications are complete, registered drivers have access to FAST lanes at a number of major crossings, and they can present three bar-coded documents to the border patrol officer, one for the driver, the carrier and the importer. The officer scans the barcodes, and any trade data is dealt with at another time in a different location. This ensures that truck drivers are cleared into Canada and the US with fast assurance, all while reducing the driver's overall costs.
“There are 74,000 truck drivers in Canada, most of whom transport goods into the United States,” said Azmairnin Jadavji, CEO of Pardon Services Canada. “Through FAST Card, expedited entry into the United States allows these individuals to cross the border safely and securely without hindering their job performance and livelihood.”
FAST is a smart solution for all commercial drivers, but even the most minor of criminal records can stop border crossing in its tracks. Over 4 million Canadians have a criminal record, and many employers demand criminal record checks, including the trucking industry. Pardon Services Canada offers services to help truck drivers cross the border legally, such as a US and Canada entry waiver, or a record suspension, which seals the criminal record.
On October 14th, Pardon Services Canada held a webinar for CTA and OTA members to discuss how they can assist individuals with FAST Card applications and introduced many of the helpful services they offer for individuals burdened with a criminal record.
