Wharf Fest Returns to Fisherman's Wharf October 24th, 2015
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 19, 2015 -- Wharf Fest, a free Fisherman’s Wharf festival, will be held on October 24, 2015. The Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District is throwing the ultimate festival to celebrate San Francisco’s historic waterfront district. Bay Area locals are invited to visit the district after the tourist season has ended and before San Francisco’s fabulous fall climate fades away. This year’s festival will include the third year of the popular chowder cook-off. The festival will also include live music from winning Bay Area bands from the Hard Rock Rising Competition, including Super Mega Everything, Antique Radio, and Mad Mama and the Bona Fide Few. These Wharf-centric events will be held at the intersection of Jefferson and Taylor streets, at the iconic Crab Wheel sign, as well as the "Little" Embarcadero, which overlooks the Pier 41 promenade and views of Alcatraz Island.
At Wharf Fest’s chowder cook-off, eleven of the restaurants of California’s chowder capital will battle it out for the title of best chowder at Fisherman’s Wharf, currently held by the Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar. The fate of this competition will be left up to the People’s Choice votes and the Judge’s Choice votes. This year’s panel of prominent local judges includes:
• Julie Christensen, San Francisco District 3 Supervisor
• Dr. Leslie E. Wong, President, San Francisco State University
• C. W. Nevius, Columnist, San Francisco Chronicle
• Rachel Ward, Editor-In-Chief, Where Magazine
• Stefanie Tuder, Senior Editor, SF Eater
• John Cannizzaro, President, FWCBD Board of Directors
The following Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurants will be competing in the Chowder Cook-Off:
• Alioto’s Restaurant
• Blue Mermaid Chowder House & Bar
• Brick & Beam at Hyatt Fisherman’s Wharf
• Boudin Bakery
• Cioppino’s
• Franciscan Crab Restaurant
• Hard Rock Café
• Joe’s Crab Shack
• Lou’s Fish Shack
• McCormick and Kuleto’s Seafood & Steaks
• Rainforest Café
Tickets are currently on sale and if pre-purchased online at WharFest.com are only $15. Tickets will cost $20 on the day of the festival.
Wharf Fest is hosted by the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District and produced by Steven Restivo Event Services. Sponsors of the event include the Port of San Francisco, Hard Rock Café, FunCheapSF, CBS Radio San Francisco, Kashi, Cupcake Vineyards, and Just Dreaming.
