Participating companies were asked to analyze data and develop an algorithm that predicts the likelihood of first-time customers to make a second purchase of their flagship product. First party data included customer characteristics and prior purchase behavior. The third party data sets, provided by Epsilon, included hundreds of attributes such as demographic, financial, behavioral and lifestyle characteristics.

The top 3 solutions presented their methodologies at the &THEN Conference, DMA’s newly reinvented annual event, in Boston on October 6th.

The role of the challenge is to allow practitioners to go “head to head” in building a model to support a real-world marketing challenge. Final submission included entries from over 5 countries and 23 organizations including brands, agencies, and academia.
