Registration Now Open for the Extreme Stair Climb Scale the Strat on February 28, 2016
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) October 15, 2015 -- On Sunday, February 28, 2016 more than 600 athletes of all abilities - elite to novice - will run or walk all 1,455 steps to the 108th floor of Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas, with the goal of raising money for the American Lung Association in Nevada’s mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health. Stratosphere Tower is the highest building West of the Mississippi.
Registration is now open for Scale the Strat, a Fight for Air Climb, at http://www.ScaleTheStrat.com.
“We climb for those who struggle to breathe every day,” said Kristina Crawford, executive director of the American Lung Association in Nevada. “Scale the Strat is our major fundraiser of the year, supporting the American Lung Association’s life changing and life- saving programs, research and education.”
In 2015, more than 600 climbers participated and helped raise more than $225,000 for the American Lung Association in Nevada. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has been the presenting sponsor since the event’s inception, and Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower donates staff, services and use of the facility for this popular event.
“We are proud to once again host this signature fundraiser for the American Lung Association,” said Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower general manager Paul Hobson. “This marks the 8th year of our partnership and we are so proud to open up the stairwells of our iconic Tower for this special community event. We are committed to providing an exceptional experience for all the participants and we wish each athlete good luck with their climb.”
Climbers who register for Scale the Strat 2016 before December 31, 2015 will receive a special “early bird” discounted registration rate of $40. Starting January 1, 2016 registration is $60, and the registration fee raises to $75 on February 26, 2016. In addition to the registration fee, all climbers are asked to make a minimum fundraising pledge of $150. Online support and personal fundraising coaching is available online and through Lung Association staff.
Once online registration has closed, participants will be emailed a group number and starting time. Athletes will report to the starting gate at their assigned group time and then released one-by-one at timed intervals. Each athlete will be able to climb the Tower once.
Climbers will be able to pick up their packets the day of the event, or attend a special Happy Hour with early packet pick up at the Stratosphere on February 26, 2016, the Friday before race day.
Those wishing to spend the weekend at Stratosphere can use the code CALA16 for a special room rate of $35.00 midweek and $69.00 Friday/Saturday – plus $20.99 resort fee and 12% room tax. Book online at http://www.StratosphereHotel.com.
