Trident University International Updates Curricula for Bachelor’s Level Information Technology Programs
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) October 16, 2015 -- As part of Trident University International’s (Trident) continuous improvement to the academic experience for students, starting in Fall 2015 students working towards a bachelor’s degree in the College of Information Systems can expect modern, revamped curricula. Updated programs include the Bachelor’s of Science in Information Technology Management (BSITM) and Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science(BSCS).
Both programs were updated based on an extensive curriculum mapping against three guidelines:
1. Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
2. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) guidelines on computing programs
3. National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) guidelines for cybersecurity
“The BS in Information Technology Management and BS in Computer Science are popular programs for both our military and civilian students. By updating these programs, we are able to stay on the cutting edge of industry changes while giving our graduates the best chance of professional success,” said Dr. Simcha Pollard, Dean of the Glenn R. Jones School of Business and College of Information Systems, Vice Provost of Academic Analytics and Student Engagement.
Dr. Wendy Wang, Faculty Lead in the College of Information System, who led the rigorous assessment of these programs, was instrumental in recommending and implementing these changes. Due to the frequently changing nature of these fields, the curricula need to be modified and updated regularly in order to maximize the student experience.
These changes address a number of issues, including course redundancies and the absence of key subject areas, such as assembly language and security topics. The huge growth of the cyber security sector is addressed across all courses.
Concentrations available as part of these programs include Cyber Security (BSCS), Business Systems Analysis (BSITM), Information Security (BSITM), and Information Technology Project Management (BSITM).
