“The EMV migration means that many of our partners’ donor credit card information will no longer be valid, which can mean big disruptions in recurring donations,” says Vish Vass, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at GiveCentral.

GiveCentral, the innovative, web-based fundraising tool for nonprofits, announced it is now working with major credit card companies to automatically and securely update donors' credit cards, minimizing the number of "lost" donations from expired or compromised cards. GiveCentral estimates that, across its membership, partners will save a collective $30 million in donations that otherwise may have been lost.
A driving factor in this new service is the new global standard for credit and debit cards requiring the use of EMV chip card technology. The new standard came into effect on October 1st, and among other changes, it requires card issuers to replace millions of cards, most of which will have new expiration dates. Over the past two months alone, GiveCentral has updated over 25,000 cards for its partners.
“The EMV migration means that many of our partners’ donor credit card information will no longer be valid, which can mean big disruptions in recurring donations,” says Vish Vass, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at GiveCentral. “We care deeply about our members’ fundraising missions, and taking this step with card issuers is another example of how we work hard to make it simple for our partners to see continued success in their fundraising efforts.”
Bringing this service directly to the industry, GiveCentral will be attending the 2015 International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) Annual Conference in Chicago, happening October 22nd through the 25th. GiveCentral representatives will be on-site at booth 325 to discuss the robust platform, which offers better pricing, more features and simpler management tools to help nonprofits grow their donations.
