Motolingo Inc., a provider of a mobile app platform for driver safety, announced they will offer rebranding services on their graduated driver’s license app for driving schools to support National Teen Driver Safety Week from October 18-24th, 2015.
The custom solution will use MotoCarma, an app currently available from Motolingo in the Google Play store. The app records progress toward the Graduated Driver’s License requirements by state. A driving score that assess risks for acceleration, braking and distracted driving is provided after the drive is complete. The app also monitors speeding against posted limits, traffic signal risks and rolling stops with an upgrade to a monthly fee-based subscription.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA, there were 2,614 teen (15-19 year old) passenger vehicle drivers involved in fatal crashes in 2013. An estimated 130,000 teens were injured. Parents are the biggest influence on teen safety behind the wheel.
“The app gives teens feedback on risky behaviors and is really an extended voice of the parent and driving school,” says Charles Nesser, President of Motolingo.
“The NHTSA campaign this year points out that even though it seems like they’re tuning you out, keep telling them. This app won’t forget or hesitate to provide some ongoing feedback,” says Nesser.
The software incorporates technology that was developed in partnership with the Injury Prevention Center at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The mobile platform on which the apps are built manages smartphone sensors, integration of external data content, operating system variations and optional vehicle connectivity.
