AspectLED Expands to a New World Class Facility in Arden Hills, MN
Arden Hills, MN (PRWEB) October 21, 2015 -- aspectLED, an emerging designer and manufacturer of LED lighting products, today announced that it has moved into a new 18,000 square foot facility in Arden Hills, MN. The company has designed the space to serve as a world-class R&D lab and highly automated manufacturing facility for the production of state-of-the-art LED products for commercial and residential use.
The expansion into a new facility was prompted by aspectLED’s tremendous growth. Since its founding early last year, aspectLED has landed major customers including Verizon, Marriott, MGM Casinos, Disney, McDonalds, Wells Fargo, Victoria's Secret, Hard Rock Café, Holiday Inn, and Boeing. The company currently has a variety of open job opportunities in sales, engineering, production, warehousing, and product management.
aspectLED is owned by Steve and Beth Nielsen, two Minnesota entrepreneurs who are building on previous success running software-driven technology companies, and applying many of the principles and lessons that they’ve learned in the tech industry to a traditional manufacturing business. Prior to founding aspectLED, Steve and Beth Nielsen successfully built several internet startups, including PartnerUp, now a wholly owned subsidiary of Deluxe Corporation, and HostForce, a leading managed hosting and IT outsourcing services provider.
“We’ve jumped into the LED industry head-first, investing a huge amount of money in R&D, market research, testing, and building out a world-class production facility,” said Beth Nielsen, CEO, aspectLED. “Arden Hills is a perfect location for our new facility because it provides us with access to a highly committed labor force with lots of engineering and manufacturing talent, and the city is a great place to do business.”
“Designing and manufacturing our products right here in Minnesota gives us complete control over the quality of our products,” said Steve Nielsen, Chief Marketing Officer, aspectLED. “Our new facility will allow us to bring more of our manufacturing in-house, helping to further drive down production costs and giving us more control over production timelines, as we’ll need to rely less on outside subcontractors.”
aspectLED is quickly becoming a prominent player in the fast-growing LED market, which many analysts expect to grow into a $94B market by 2020, with roughly 45% growth per year. This growth is largely due to the many benefits that LED lighting offers to businesses and homeowners alike. LED lighting provides significant power savings, using up to 80% less energy than incandescent lights, often making it possible to recapture the initial investment within 1-2 years. In addition, LED lighting provides virtually unlimited design flexibility and is quickly becoming the go-to choice for architects and interior designers to achieve dramatic lighting effects.
“We’ve built aspectLED from the ground-up by listening to our customers to understand what’s important to them, and we’ve been hearing that the ability to quickly and cost-effectively produce light fixtures with a process that is flexible enough to accommodate customizations, is the #1 priority of most customers,” said Luke Walter, Director of Customer Care, aspectLED. “Our new facility was designed with these goals in mind and our automation capabilities will allow us to deliver product faster and at a lower price point.”
LED lighting solutions reduce energy consumption and minimize the amount of toxic waste going into the landfills, making them a sustainable and environmentally friendly choice. Other types of lightbulbs, like fluorescents, create more waste, use more energy (generating more carbon emissions), and contain lots of heavy metals and other hazardous materials. In addition to being more eco-friendly, LED lights also typically last over 50,000 hours, which saves considerable maintenance costs associated with having to constantly change light and ballasts.
“The technology behind LED lighting has advanced to the point where LED lighting is now becoming the defacto lighting standard,” added Beth Nielsen. “Within the next 5 years, we expect that LED lighting will account for over 90% of the total lighting industry and we’re excited to be in a great position to capitalize on this major market shift.”
