A&P’s Demonstrates Crane Safety to Students at Career Days
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 21, 2015 -- Colorado Construction Career Days is an industry sponsored event for junior and senior high school students, to explore the variety of careers available within the construction industry, including: design, infrastructure, building trades, architecture, engineering and many more.
The event featured a diverse array of booths from all components of construction. Adolfson & Peterson Construction’s (A&P) four unistrut cranes stood tall at 5 feet with a 6-foot 4-inch boom. A&P’ actively involved the students in a demonstration of the importance of adjusting and balancing a load on a crane. If the loads of candy were not properly balanced, the crane would go off center and miss the target on the ground. Different kinds of candy were used to differentiate the loads, and when the demonstration was completed the kids had a treat to take home.
George Holland, A&P Project Superintendent, was excited to be a part of this conference. “I loved doing this because not only did we get our message out to the schools that construction is a viable career option and, yes, a passion, but I also got to see our many diverse A&P crane operators explain to the kids what construction has done for them. We all had a great time.”
