Fourth-generation Sonoma Valley vintners Don Sebastiani & Sons announced today the release of their newest wine, featuring an ultra eye-catching velvet label, designed to elevate their customers’ sensory experience.

“Our research, along with years of interaction with consumers, has helped us to understand what people want in a wine— big, bold flavors and a smooth, velvety finish. With this project, we wanted to take a different approach and offer the consumer a more comprehensive encounter. We aimed to communicate the essence of the wine before the bottle is even opened,” said Donny Sebastiani, President and CEO.

Big Smooth Old Vine Zinfandel features a stunning velvet purple label with subtle fishnet stocking detail and an iconic leg lamp image. Sourced from premier grape-growing appellations Lodi, Sonoma and Napa, this wine invites consumers to interact with it the moment they see it on the shelf.

“Wine is a sensual journey beginning with consumers’ first encounter with a bottle. They experience the way it looks, feels, smells and tastes using the body’s senses, which is part of what makes wine so appealing. With Big Smooth we captured that appeal in graphic format—what’s inside the bottle matches what’s on the outside. The velvety legs that stick to the glass, smooth tannins and silky finish are expressed in the packaging and label design. We want to leave people with a memorable interaction and we feel we’ve accomplished just that,” added Sebastiani.

Don Sebastiani & Sons winemaker, Greg Kitchens, worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality. After carefully selecting top quality grapes, he worked to craft a superb wine that was both big and smooth. The final product has already surpassed expectations and is projected to be a hit.

Big Smooth is scheduled to be released in October 2015 in select cities. Launches are set to occur in California, Colorado, Massachusetts and Illinois. Additional market expansion will begin in 2016. The suggested retail price for Big Smooth is $17.99.
