INFORMS to Launch Pro Bono Analytics Initiative to Connect Nonprofits with Analytics Experts to Improve Operations and Services10/28 Webinar Open to Nonprofits and Media
Catonsville, MD (PRWEB) October 20, 2015 -- The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the leading professional association in analytics and operations research, today announced it is launching a new initiative -- Pro Bono Analytics – in an effort to connect analytics experts with non-profit organizations seeking to improve how they achieve greater results by leveraging data and information.
As part of the launch of Pro Bono Analytics, INFORMS will host a live webinar on Wednesday, October 28 at 12 PM EST for leaders and managers of nonprofit organizations. Michael Johnson, PhD -- an Associate Professor of Public Affairs and Public Policy with the University of Massachusetts Boston’s McCormack Graduate School -- will lead the webinar.
With the Pro Bono Analytics initiative, nonprofit organizations have the opportunity to work with analytics professionals on a volunteer basis to help solve challenges and create new opportunities for success with the scientific process of transforming data into insight.
The initiative matches INFORMS analytics professional volunteers with non-profit organizations that would benefit from advanced analytics and operations research training and techniques. By focusing on current analytics issues as they relate to nonprofit organizations the pro bono analytics team will be able to take the necessary steps in helping solve the most complex issues.
“Organizations of every shape and size are tackling the same fundamental questions — how do we get our arms around all the information we have? What can we learn and understand from it? And, how do we do convert our knowledge into meaningful action? Pro Bono Analytics will empower nonprofit organizations to do just that,” said Johnson.
