Peak Design and Tamrac Reach Licensing Agreement
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 20, 2015 -- Peak Design and Tamrac, two of the industry’s most innovative photo and lifestyle accessory brands, have inked a licensing agreement over one of Tamrac’s patents.
The licensing agreement was made with respect to US Patent #6206567 that pertains to dual openings in accessing a container.
In July 2015, Peak Design launched The Everyday Messenger, a combination messenger and camera bag, on a popular crowdfunding platform. The Everyday Messenger incorporates a weatherproof zipper atop its main flap for quick access to bag contents.
Peak Design was unaware of the existence of the patent when it launched the product. Upon receiving word from Tamrac that it considered the zipper to be a feature that was covered by one of its patents, Peak Design and Tamrac worked quickly, cordially, and constructively toward an agreement that could benefit both companies.
The result of that negotiation is a full licensure of the patent by Peak Design valid for the life of the patent. Both companies are pleased that the resolution will not induce any lag in fulfillment time of the Everyday Messenger.
