Motorcycle Customization Isn’t Just for Pros Anymore: British Customs Launches Their Weekend Projects
(PRWEB) October 20, 2015 -- British Customs’ Weekend Projects Takes the Guesswork out of Motorcycle Customization, Puts it Back in the Hands of the Average Rider
British Customs is putting motorcycle customization back in the hands of the average rider by introducing their new Weekend Projects with 150+ upgrades packages that are designed to allow the average rider to completely transform a Triumph motorcycle into any style bike system by system. All the upgrades included in each pack can be installed using common tools, and only require minimal technical knowledge.
British Customs seeks to revitalize the heritage of the motorcycle community’s home-garage culture by reconnecting riders with the lifestyle of the “good ol’ days” of vintage motorcycles. In the heyday of motorcycling, everything on a motorcycle was mechanical, and could be worked on with common tools. Personalizing motorcycles was commonplace when any rider could work on any part of their bike in their own garage.
But now, when someone thinks of custom motorcycle, they imagine taking a bike to a chop shop and having to spend sums of money to get something unique. The knowledge of how to customize one’s own motorcycle has largely been unavailable to the average rider, and there is a volume of guesswork about what parts are needed when upgrading certain systems.
British Customs’ Weekend Projects remove the guesswork from customization, and their packages include everything necessary to upgrade an entire system, including Appearance, Bodywork, Controls, Driveline, Handling, Lighting, and Performance.
“Being able to personalize your own motorcycle is a rewarding and enjoyable experience,” stated Jason Panther, President of British Customs. “We're changing what it means to get a custom motorcycle by allowing riders customize their own bikes with factory-spec bolt-on parts they can install themselves. With Weekend Projects, we’re grouping parts that are designed to go together in packages to take the guesswork out of what you need in order to modify any system on a bike.”
British Customs also rates each package by difficulty. While the vast majority of the packages are designed so that the average rider can install them, British Customs has developed a 1-5 difficulty scale to inform buyers about how skill- or knowledge-intensive using a certain package to upgrade a system may be. The packages scale from being accessible to someone who has never worked on their motorcycle before to being recommended to professional mechanics.
Each week, British Customs will publish on their blog a buyers’ guide and a tech tip post, with helpful instructions on how pick packages and install them.
If a rider doesn’t feel comfortable installing their own parts, any of the parts included in a package from British Customs can be taken to a dealer to have them install it.
