It is an honor to be elected even once, and G2nd Systems® CEO, Lorelei Carobolante, MBA, GPHR, SCRP, SGMS-T, feels privileged to have been selected a second time to serve as one of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (US TAG) delegates at the 2015 ISO/TC 260 HRM2015 Plenary Meeting in Galveston, Texas November 9-13. U.S. TAGs are accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – the U.S. representative to the ISO – to develop and transmit U.S. positions on the activities and ballots of an international technical committee. ANSI plays a strong leadership role in the ISO’s governing body, and serves as the secretariat for TC 260, with Mr. James A. Lewis, MS, SPHR, GPHR, Vice President of Human Resources at NSF International, as the Technical Committee (TC) Chair through 2017.
Participating at this level affords delegates the opportunity to work in cooperation with representatives of standards bodies of other countries to write an International Standard while influencing domestic and international policy. The goal of global HR standards development is to enhance organizational performance while facilitating more people-centered practices and humane workplaces. The ISO standards define technical activity that provides comprehensive, coordinated guidance to human resource practitioners, and will harmonize disparate practices for the benefit of organizations and their employees.
During this event, HR experts from multiple countries and cultures – both non-native and native English speakers – will partner to reach consensus and develop working drafts for review by the main Technical Committee. Following discussion, feedback, voting, reviews and finalization, drafts will evolve to potentially become international standards or technical specifications. The overall process is a literal world-class example of leveraging the benefits of globally diverse perspectives, which G2nd is also passionate about.
The Chair of the US TAG to ISO/TC 260, Ronald B. McKinley, PhD, SPHR, Vice President, Human Resources and Employee Services for UTMB Health, is Head of the Delegation this year. “It is a privilege to serve in this capacity,” said Dr. McKinley. “We are fortunate to have the support and expertise that professionals like Lorelei have contributed since the inception of ISO TC/260 HR Management.
