Living Science Homeschool Study Center Builds New STEM Center, Selects Albion Scaccia for Design and Construction
Woodstock, Georgia (PRWEB) October 21, 2015 -- As its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum continues to grow, North Atlanta’s Living Science Homeschool Study Center has enlisted Albion Scaccia to build a new home for the popular program. A hands-on learning center for homeschoolers, the Living Science STEM Center will provide interactive learning opportunities to almost 250 students grades four through 12.
Selected as design-build partner for the new STEM Study Center, Albion Scaccia will develop the facility to house six classrooms, offices for teachers, storage, restrooms, and a large, multi-use, open area space for gatherings and special projects.
“We selected Albion Scaccia because of the firm’s consultative approach – we knew that they would bring recommendations on how we can continuously strive to find the best solutions in the most budget-conscious way,” said Lance Davis, co-founder and headmaster, Living Science Homeschool Study Center. “We were sold right away on the team’s honesty, character and commitment. We know that we are small school with a shoestring budget, but the Albion Scaccia team has shown us that they want to see us succeed.”
Scheduled to be completed in May 2016, the new facility will feature an oversized, garage-like door for large-scale engineering projects, making projects like the center’s annual trebuchet-building competition easier to manage, with seamless indoor/outdoor access. Led by Dan Fisher, a Lockheed veteran who brings years of hands-on tech experience to his role, the Living Science Home Studies’ STEM program was a recent finalist for the TAG Education Awards for Middle School programs.
“We pride ourselves on being a value-driven business, and we’re pleased to partner with other organizations with a similar vision,” said Brian Newsome, co-founder and executive vice president, Albion Scaccia. “Living Science Homeschool Study Center provides valuable, hands-on training to an underserved segment of students, and we’re excited to help them bring the vision for a new STEM center to life.”
Founded in Woodstock, Georgia, in 1996 with an emphasis on core science curriculum, Living Science Homeschool Study Center expanded its services in 2011 to add technology and engineering learning opportunities as it saw a void in STEM learning opportunities and increasing demand for students trained in these fields.
