Start-up aiming to shake up the rental market launches in London
London (PRWEB UK) 22 October 2015 -- Roomr is a new startup aiming to disrupt London’s rental market with its focus on creating happy houseshares rather just filling empty rooms.
The free app on iOS and Android puts personality at the centre of the room-finding experience. It matches potential housemates based on mutual likes and interests to create social homes based around genuine connections.
The app was created by two former colleagues; Paul Davis, 24 and Jordan Burnett, 25 who decided to build the app after struggling themselves with finding a houseshare in London.
Unlike listing sites in the London renting marketplace, it is a community of house sharers where profiles are tagged with individual interests. By empowering tenants to find housemates they actually want to live with they hope they can shift the stigma of 'generation rent' and nurture a more positive attitude towards housesharing.
Founder, Paul Davis explains: "Roomr strips away the walls. It’s no longer about rooms and properties, it’s all about the housemates.”
Roomr has been developed by Davis and Burnett with the backing and support of their former employers, digital agency AnalogFolk.
Bill Brock, Founder and CEO at AnalogFolk, comments: “Our experience of making and marketing digital services has created a rich environment for start-ups, and we’re incredibly pleased to be supporting Paul and Jordan in their venture.”
Davis and Burnett also collaborated with pixel artist Chris Gilleard, who created a set of illustrations that have been woven into the experience.
All profiles are checked by real people before they are made public to reduce the risk of scams and eliminate those 'bed in shed' ads. The app launched this month and is currently working on growing its community of sharers in London.

AnalogFolk
Founded in 2008, AnalogFolk makes and markets interactive experiences that create value for people and brands. With offices in London, Sydney, New York, Portland and Hong Kong, its mission is to use digital to make the analog world better.
AnalogFolk takes an inside-out approach to building brands. Its strategic approach starts on the inside to unearth the value opportunity, based on a deep understanding of the business, brand, consumer and culture. From here it creates an interactive idea that is experienced through an ecosystem comprising platforms, products, content and spaces. This experience is then activated through data, communities and communications.
