NewYork-Presbyterian Announces Organizational Changes to Improve and Enhance Patient Care
NEW YORK, NEW YORK (PRWEB) October 21, 2015 -- NewYork-Presbyterian is announcing several organizational changes aimed at realizing its mission of becoming the leading integrated academic healthcare enterprise in the nation. These changes reflect NewYork-Presbyterian’s rapid growth and expansion.

Corwin, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian. “These changes ensure that NewYork-Presbyterian will remain a leader in a healthcare environment that is increasingly dynamic, competitive and complex.”
Along with world-renowned medical school partners Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, NewYork-Presbyterian is expanding in a number of key areas. The institution has established a network of high-quality regional hospitals and developed highly specific, patient-centered models of care to treat one of the most diverse patient populations in the country.
In order to support the institution’s ongoing growth and strategic direction, the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise will now be defined by four major divisions:
NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital—NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is the academic medical hub of NewYork-Presbyterian’s enterprise. Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the No. 1 Hospital in New York and consistently named to the magazine’s prestigious honor roll, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital comprises six campuses:
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center
• NewYork-Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Division
NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network—The NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network, formerly known as the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, comprises regional hospitals that have entered a closer relationship with NewYork-Presbyterian in recent years, including:
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital
• NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens
Future hospitals that establish closer relationships with NewYork-Presbyterian may also join the NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network, pending approval from the New York State Department of Health. Other NewYork-Presbyterian affiliations, including acute care hospitals, nursing homes and specialty institutions, will also be managed under the Regional Hospital Network.
NewYork-Presbyterian Physician Services—Designed to broaden and expand healthcare delivery, NewYork-Presbyterian Physician Services is the institution’s organized physician venture. At the center of this effort are the recently established NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups in Westchester, Hudson Valley and Queens.
These medical groups will have a particular focus on primary care, and will work in collaboration with NewYork-Presbyterian’s faculty physician organizations, Weill Cornell Physicians and ColumbiaDoctors. In the coming months, NewYork-Presbyterian plans to roll out an independent physician network for non-employed physicians who have privileges at hospitals in the NewYork-Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network.
NewYork-Presbyterian Community and Population Health—As community and population health become increasingly important in the changing healthcare landscape, NewYork-Presbyterian is bringing many of its efforts in this area under a single division. NewYork-Presbyterian Community and Population Health comprises the institution’s ambulatory care network sites and operations, community programs and initiatives, Medicaid Delivery System Reform Incentive Program (DSRIP) and management of NewYork Quality Care, the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) jointly established earlier this year by NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell and Columbia.
The NewYork-Presbyterian Executive Leadership Team
NewYork-Presbyterian has appointed a leadership team that will enable its continued success under its new model of integrated care:
Steven J. Corwin, M.D., has been named president and chief executive officer of the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise.
Laura L. Forese, M.D., M.P.H., serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Dr. Forese has ultimate operational responsibility for the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise. She is responsible for advancing NewYork-Presbyterian’s patient-centered strategic vision, extending the NewYork-Presbyterian culture across our enterprise and achieving our enterprise-wide operating targets.
Phyllis Lantos, M.S., is now executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. She is responsible for all financial-related matters across the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise. She continues to serve as an advisor on healthcare reform and financial policy implications, and works closely with finance leaders across NewYork-Presbyterian to respond to challenges in the industry going forward.
Maxine Frank, Esq., has been appointed executive vice president, chief legal officer and general counsel. She has legal oversight for the NewYork-Presbyterian enterprise, supervising all legal and risk management activities, directing all outside counsel relationships and advising the chief executive officer and the Board of Trustees.
